Ken Durand - Lead Born in Roanoke, VA, Ken spent most of his childhood around the Charlotte, NC area in a wonderful Christian home. During the 70’s, his family formed a Southern Gospel group that traveled extensively around the southeast as the Lordsmen Singers; recording on the Lefevre Sound label in Atlanta, GA. It was during these years of singing along with his older siblings that Ken formed an unending love for Southern Gospel music. In the years that followed, Ken sang every type of music imaginable. From Gilbert and Sullivan stage shows to a touring group known as the Continental Brass, he spent his college years traveling and singing extensively; highlighted by being named the featured baritone soloist for the Winston-Salem Symphony Orchestra in 1987. Through all of the changing times, he held firm that he would someday return to the music that he loved, and eventually formed the Southern Gospel group Redeemed with his wife, and high school sweetheart, Debbie. Ken has also taken an avid interest in promoting southern gospel music in the Atlanta area, forming the “Southside Gospel Sing” in 1999. This yearlong concert series exposed the south side of Atlanta to some of the finest groups in America. Over the years, Ken and Debbie have lived in North Carolina and Texas, and they currently reside in Dacula, GA with their daughter Zoe and their two “fur” children. (A Springer Spaniel named Tripper, and a Nova Scotian Retriever named Tobi.) By day, Ken is the Director of Program Management for a cable TV technology firm. |
